Intralibid

Medicines and solutions used in the burn unit

Adrenaline

Cardiovascular stimulant

Dosage:

According to doctor's orders

Nurse's role:

Note the side effects

Tremors - vomiting - headache - sweating - yellowing - fear - increased heart rate - chest pain, and you must inform the doctor immediately.

Atropine

It is used in cases of low heart rate

Dosage:

According to the doctor's order

Side effects :

Dry throat - dilated pupils - high temperature - lack of concentration - hallucinations

Nurse's role:

It should be given with caution under the supervision of a physician, especially in cases of:

Low blood pressure - inability to breathe - electrical muscle disturbance in the heart.

Dopamine

It is used in cases of decreased blood circulation - heart enlargement

Dosage:

According to doctor's orders

Side effects :

Irregular heartbeats - feeling the heart beating strongly - low blood pressure - nausea - vomiting - headache

The role of the nurse:

Do not add to alkaline solution (sodium bicarbonate).

Place the patient on the monitor

Make a fluid map

Xylocaine

Antiarrhythmic, local anesthetic

Dosage:

Intravenously, 100 ml initial dose, then 1-2 g/500 mg 5% glucose at a speed of 1-4 mg/min. And according to the doctor's orders

Side effects :

Reduction of Blood pressure

Severe decrease in blood circulation

Cramps

Sodium bicarbonate

It is used to treat acidity in the body, an example of which is diabetic coma, and it is used according to blood gas analysis

 Nurse's role:

It is not given with calcium solution

Note the occurrence of alkaline activity:

(Vomiting - diarrhea - weak breathing - lack of concentration - agitation - tremors)

Solutions used in the burns unit: -

 Salt solution:

It is used in cases of lack of fluids in the body and after the operation

Solution C 5%: acute decline in blood circulation and cases of diabetic coma with insulin

Solution C 10%: acute decline in blood circulation and cases of diabetic coma with insulin

25% solution: It is used in cases of post-concussion and diabetic coma resulting from low blood sugar.

Ringer's solution: in cases of fluid deficiency

Sodium bicarbonate: It is used in cases of excess acidity in the body (cardiac and respiratory arrest).

Potassium chloride: in cases of potassium deficiency

Blood: Whole (red cells - platelets - plasma - clotting parameters) and is used in cases of shock due to fluid deficiency. Bleeding, decreased coagulation factors

Plasma: in cases of burns and protein deficiency in the body

Famine: It contains amino acids and proteins and is given in cases of severe protein deficiency, coma cases, and major surgical operations (not eating for a long time).

Intralipid: It is a solution containing fatty acids that the body needs (in cases of complete coma - in cases of cholesterol deficiency).
